Adding OpenIDs

OpenID eliminates the need for multiple usernames across different websites, simplifying your online experience.  Mashical uses a third-party provider (RPX from JanRain), so that you can login to the site using the credentials from Google, Facebook, AOL, Yahoo, or any OpenID provider.

The first time you log in, a unique user id is assigned, so that you can be recognized on subsequent logins.  To make life even easier, we have set up a system to allow you to use multiple OpenIDs for the same unique user account.

To accomplish this:
  • After logging in, click on your name in the upper right of the webpage to go to your profile page.
  • The profile page shows your current display name (retrieved from your last login) and a list of your OpenID identities.
  • Click "Add new OpenID"
  • Login with a different provider.
  • You will be brought back to the profile page with the new identity now in the list.
  • Logging in with any identity from the list will log you in as the same unique user.
